My Letter to All People

For some people posting a site on MySpace or Facebook isn’t such a big problem. If you are a parent or a child who thinks this way then you should be listening to this more then anyone.

You might think having a MySpace or Facebook page is cool and that nothing can ever happen to you, but you are sadly mistaken. You might want to have your privacy and that could be the reason why you posted, but the minute you post your information on the internet, you no longer have control. That information is now available for anyone who wants it, and even if you delete the page other people can still find other ways to get it, so it’s like it never went away.

Most kids think that because they are so cute and adorable that nothing bad could ever happen to them. The people you talk to on the internet don’t always care about you the way they say they do. They will tell you anything they have to get you to trust them, and when you do, they get you to meet with them and then you can’t turn back.

If your parent or guardian tells you that it is ok for you to have a MySpace or Facebook page then no one can tell you otherwise, but don’t be stupid, think about how posting could affect your life later on. If you do decide to post, always get someone to read the agreement plan, the website does have the ability to change anything they want at any time, so be ready. While you are posting remember that you should never give out any of your personal information.

When you decide to talk to people, don’t just talk to anyone you see. If they don’t have a picture I would recommend you don’t talk to them, but remember people can just as easily post someone else’s picture and say it is them. Try to talk to people from your school or people whom you know well. When your parents say it is ok for you to meet someone always bring someone with you like a parent or a few friends, and make sure that someone knows where you are at all times in case something happens.

If your parent says you can’t post on a site, then don’t! Never go behind your parents back to post, and don’t ever post a fake age to meet the age requirement. If you are too young then you will have to wait until you are older. If your parents say no they have their reasons so don’t think they’re trying to ruin your life, because they’re not. They do the things they do because they love you and don’t want anything to happen to you. It is ok to get angry but don’t lose all common sense on the way.

Posting can drastically change someone’s life, so be smart when posting. Remember to never give out any personal information, always take someone with you if you meet someone, always read the agreement plan, and don’t ever post behind your parents backs.

Letter to Stephen L. Johnson

Dear Mr. Johnson:

I’m writing you to let you know, that I think it’s great that you care about the environment so much. I think you can help other people see how much global warming is hurting our environment. Global warming is destroying our planet and some people are sitting around, watching it happen. Global warming is one of the most serious problems we are having. It is killing the plants and animals everywhere, and is even affecting people. I thought that since you are the Administrator of the US Environmental Agency that you would want to hear other people’s point of views and to help.

Global warming is drastically affecting the earth’s climate, seasons and environment. Now, plants are growing later and living longer, and there are more tropical storms. Two- hundred million people may have to be moved because of the rising of the sea levels and severe droughts. The slow extinction of the polar bears is also because of global warming. The polar bears need to rest after swimming a certain amount of miles and this is causing a problem for them. The polar ice caps are melting so the polar bears don’t have as many places to rest, causing many to drown.

Global warming is also affecting the forests. Because of the increased amount of greenhouse gases entering the atmosphere the trees are increasing in growth. The more greenhouse gas the larger the tree growth. The Stern Review’s John Hughes edited an article called “The Science of Climate Change” which states “Our climate has already warmed up 0.7 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels and even with the seemingly small rise we can see significant changes across the planet”.

Sadly, humans are the major cause of global warming. Every time we get into a car, and a bus, train, or airplane we are contributing more to the mess we have started. Some people don’t think global warming is actually happening and, unfortunately, some people who do believe it don’t want to take the time or money to try to fix the mess they helped create.

Global Warming has influenced the minds of many people in good ways and bad. With your high standards, and even higher social rank, you could help people see how much global warming is affecting the earth. Hopefully, people will listen to what you have to say and come back to their senses. Remember, if we don’t try to stop global warming, then it will only get worse.

Sincerely,

A Fan

Global Warming

Global warming is one of the major problems we are having. Global warming has caused an increased amount of greenhouse gases to enter the earth’s atmosphere. Greenhouse gases are gases that trap heat in the atmosphere. The main greenhouse gas is carbon dioxide and humans happen to be the number one cause of the amount of carbon dioxide that is entering the air. By driving cars, taking buses, and trains, humans are giving off carbon dioxide every day.
Unfortunately, some people believe global warming isn’t actually happening. They think the scientists who are telling us this are making it all up. These people are sadly mistaken; global warming has affected the environment, the seasons, glaciers, forest people and more.
Radiation comes from the sun, some will reflect back to the sun and the rest builds up around the earth’s atmosphere, which heats up the earth faster then it would naturally. Before global warming, the earth heated itself, but because of global warming, the earth is heating up faster then it would on its own. Global warming is also a good thing for the earth; it keeps the earth at a livable temperature.
Global warming has affected many things. “Our climate has already warmed up by 0.7 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels, and even with this seemingly small rise we can see significant changes occurring across the planet” ( The Stern Review). The glaciers are now melting faster because of global warming. The radiation from the sun hits the water, warming it up. The warmer water causes the glaciers to melt. Before, there were more glaciers then water, so most of the radiation hit the glaciers and reflect back into the atmosphere.
Global warming has also affected the forests. Because of the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere the trees are beginning to increase in growth. The more carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, the larger the tree growth.
Some people don’t think global warming is such a problem, and some don’t think it is actually happening. Sadly, many people who do believe its happening aren’t doing anything to try and stop it. Now, people are much lazier and don’t want to take the time or money to try and fix the problem we’ve created. If people are going to complain, then they should at least take the time to help out.
There are lots of things you can do to help when you are at home, on the road, at work or at school. At home, every once in a while you could change five lights. Take out the conventional bulbs and replace them with five light fixtures with bulbs. The conventional light bulb gives off more greenhouse gases then light fixtures with bulbs. Seal and insulate your home to increase the efficiency of your heater and air conditioning. Two really big ones are to use water wisely and to reuse, reduce, and recycle. Saving water can decrease the amount of greenhouse gases being in the air. Purifying the water takes a lot of energy, which gives off a lot of greenhouse gasses. By using less water, less water will have to be purified which gives off less greenhouse gases.
On the road you could try to buy smarter. Try buying more Energy Star products. When buying a new car you should put the option of the Hybrid in your mind, it is more fuel efficient. Checking your tires is also a good idea. Under-inflation lowers the fuel economy by 3 percent and gives off more greenhouse gases (U.S. Environmental Protection Agency). Use renewable fuels, this can lower the greenhouse gas your car gives off.
At work you could use energy star products, and try to take more public transportation. At school you could get involved at your college or university and the teachers could teach more about the environment.

“These changes were either slow enough to allow life to move on and adapt to the conditions, or they brought about large-scale extensions” (The Stern Review). Remember, if we don’t do anything to try to lesson the amount of greenhouse gasses in the atmosphere, it can, and will, only get worse.

Gymnastics

I love gymnastics. I am a level four on team. I haven't gotten the chance to compete yet, because when i got on team the competing season had already began. I have been in gymastics for three years, but they weren't all at the same time. When I was in kindergarden I took my first class. I started back last year. I have always loved gymnastics. It is my favorite sport.
